Job overview
As a Programme Lead, you will lead the delivery of the Dallaglio RugbyWorks range of interventions and delivery team within the North West region which focuses on Liverpool and Warrington.
In this role you will spend time on the ground delivering interventions to young people. You will also support your Programme Manager with the development and management of the region, which includes the line management of the part time and casual staff members that cover the North West.
In the short term, your focus will be on pitching and selling the Dalllaglio RugbyWorks intervention to new educational provisions in the area.
We are seeking someone with the combined skills of being able to deliver high quality sports and employability sessions to young people with the ability to take on a level of regional coordination.
What the job involves
Service Delivery
- Deliver our suite of interventions both during the school timetable and outside of the school timetable (3-7pm) within a range of settings in your region.
- Develop session plans in line with our curriculum and scheme of work, tailoring these to the needs of each cohort of young people.
- Establishing and maintaining professional relationships with staff within the education settings that we work in.
- Build trusted adulted relationships with young people that are meaningful and supportive.
- Adapt to changing environments and work creatively to deliver sessions to a range of young people.
- Ensure that our web based App Player Profiles becomes an integral part of the delivery of our interventions and support mechanisms for young peoples development.
- Lead on the organisation and delivery of holiday programmes for young people including gaining funding to deliver these.
- Lead on the coordination of Career Taster Days with partner organisations, workshops and tournaments for young people.
- Oversee the timetable of delivery for your region, ensuring that team capacity is maximised.
- Have an in depth understanding of the Dallaglio RugbyWorks curriculum, theory of change, methodology and how this should be applied in practice.
- Lead on the delivery of special projects and partnerships within your region.
- Support the Youth Voice Project Lead to gain access to young people and sessions to achieve deliverables for this project.
Reporting and Processes
- Ensure that all session reporting and completed in a timely manner on UpShot.
- Responsible for ensuring data collection is completed across the region within the team.
- Place child welfare at the front and centre to your delivery, following safeguarding and health & safety procedures and completing relevant training.
- Ensure safe practice is in place including risk assessments for regular and one off activities.
Regional Development
- Seek out opportunities to build delivery in the region, pitching and selling our services.
- Build and maintain excellent working relationships with schools, provisions and delivery partners ensuring SLA’s and contracts are adhered to by both parties.
- Support with the applications for regional funding and related report writing.
- Support with the management of key stakeholders and funders for the region.
- Attend networking events and forums.
Team
- Provide line management and supervision, including regular one-to-ones with any direct line reports.
- Provide training, mentoring and upskilling to the wider delivery team where appropriate.
- Work with other service delivery colleagues to share best practice, learn from one another and solve problems.
- Support all employees within your team to carry out their duties effectively.
- Ensure the continued learning and upskilling of your team.
- Act as a mentor to junior members of the delivery team, supporting them to be better practitioners.
Undertake any other related responsibilities commensurate with the evolving objectives of the post and the charity. There may, on occasion, be a need to work outside of normal working hours to fulfil the full scope of the job description.
Who you are
- At least 3 years experience delivering interventions to young people experiencing school exclusion or in similar challenging circumstances.
- Commitment and passion for supporting young people who have been excluded from education to change their lives.
- Ability to build trusted adult relationships with vulnerable and challenging young people.
- Awareness of the issues impacting young people today and a trauma informed approach to supporting young people to overcome barriers.
- Proven evidence of your continued learning and upskilling within your practice.
- Previous experience with line management or team leadership and a demonstrable ability to motivate and support teams.
- Significant experience with building delivery partnerships and delivering alongside these partners.
- Level 2 sports coaching qualification or equivalent training/qualification.
- Youth work or teacher training/qualification would be a bonus.
