Job description
Our client is a leading R&D materials company based in Huntingdon who are currently recruiting for a Graduate Scientist to join its commercial team. You will play a key role in the Sales and Operations team where you will be a technical point of contact when it comes to pricing of customer enquiries.
This role will suit a newly qualified STEM graduate who is actively looking for a successful career outside of the laboratory. Ideally you will have an interest in materials science or chemistry.
Graduate Scientist responsibilities
Ensure customer enquiries are actioned in a timely manner and within SLA.
Maximise the conversion rate from enquiry, to quote, to order.
Understand the capability of our suppliers; build and maintain good relationships.
Develop suppliers to improve quotation accuracy and speed of response.
Update Sales and Operations team members on the progress of ongoing enquiries, estimated delivery dates and costing decisions.
Place ‘Back to Back’ Purchase Orders as required on the receipt of Sales Order.
Progress open purchase orders to ensure that delivery dates are met. Actively respond to quality issues and discrepancies.
Keep abreast of market trends for materials. Benchmark existing suppliers in a bid to maximise purchasing potential.
Graduate Scientist requirements
Degree level qualification (BSc, BEng or above) in a STEM subject. Ideally this will be focused on Materials Science, Chemistry or Physics.
Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Accuracy and high attention to detail.
Passion for providing service excellence and drive to achieve results.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Flexibility and a positive attitude towards opportunity.
A mindset that puts the customer at the centre of everything the company does.
A technical knowledge gained from similar engineering / chemical / material supply business is an advantage.
Additional languages would be an advantage.
£28k-£32k + excellent company benefits
