Responsibilities:
1. Receiving and Unloading: Accepting deliveries of goods, verifying their contents against invoices or manifests, and unloading them from delivery vehicles.
2. Quality Checking: Inspecting incoming goods for damage or defects and reporting any issues to supervisors or relevant personnel.
3. Storage and Organization: Properly storing received goods in designated locations within the warehouse, ensuring efficient use of space and easy retrieval.
4. Picking and Packing: Selecting items from inventory according to order lists or instructions, packaging them securely, and preparing them for shipment.
5. Stock Control: Keeping track of inventory levels, conducting regular stock checks, and updating inventory records using computerized systems or manual logs.
6. Order Processing: Processing incoming orders, picking items from inventory, preparing them for dispatch, and coordinating with shipping or logistics departments.
7. Loading and Dispatching: Loading goods onto delivery vehicles, ensuring they are properly secured and organized for transportation, and coordinating dispatch schedules.
8. Inventory Management: Monitoring stock levels, identifying slow-moving or obsolete items, and recommending actions such as restocking or clearance sales.
9. Maintaining Cleanliness and Safety: Keeping the warehouse clean and organized, following safety protocols and procedures, and promptly addressing any hazards or maintenance issues.
10. Equipment Operation: Operating warehouse machinery and equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks safely and efficiently.
11. Communication and Coordination: Communicating effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and other departments to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of tasks.
12. Compliance: Adhering to relevant regulations and guidelines regarding the handling, storage, and transportation of goods, including health and safety standards and legal requirements.
These tasks may vary depending on the specific requirements of the warehouse and the nature of the goods being handled. Additionally, warehouse operatives may be responsible for other duties as assigned by supervisors or managers to support the overall operation of the warehouse.
