We are seeking a well organised professional to join the Department of Global Health and Infection at Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) at the University of Sussex as our FLIGHT Business Development Manager.
The FLIGHT (Framework for Leveraging Innovation in Global Health Technologies ) programme aims to develop a framework for translational health research and commercial development for global health activities. FLIGHT, a collaboration between the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and BSMS, is one of 14 successful projects in the latest round of Research England’s Connecting Capability Fund / Research England Development Fund awards. This government initiative provides funding for collaborations between universities and with private sector partners to achieve more effective research commercialisation.
The FLIGHT Business Development Manager will contribute to the FLIGHT programme and will deliver BSMS-focused business development activity, alongside partner FLIGHT managers at LSTM and LSHTM. Specifically, the role will deliver day-to-day aspects of the BSMS-centred FLIGHT programme, including liaison and co-ordination with the University of Sussex Innovation and Business Partnerships (IBP) team, wider HEI and partner FLIGHT teams. They will work under the direction of the FLIGHT Programme Lead and IBP to deliver the KPIs and outcomes of the programme. The role will be an externally facing position, liaising and collaborating with wider innovation partners in both the UK and LMICs in order to enhance the innovation portfolio at BSMS. The FLIGHT Business Development Manager will foster strong links with Knowledge Exchange, Legal and Academic colleagues to contribute to innovation policy, achieving the strategic objectives and KPIs of the project, thereby supporting the broader impact goals of BSMS.
