Job description
Reporting to the UK Director of Operations, the Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible and accountable for delivering all aspects of this organisations UK sourcing requirements and supplier compliance in line with Company Policy and industry standards. The Strategic Sourcing manager plays a key role in forging effective relationships internally, with their suppliers & ensuring that the product meets the demands of certification standards. Whilst the role is based in Stockport, regular travel to other UK sites and global suppliers may be required.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The role of Strategic Sourcing Manager will oversee the development and implementation of strategic sourcing plans
- Identify potential suppliers and developing long-term relationships
- Deliver sourcing project portfolio aligning to relevant sourcing plans of record and our business and supply chain metrics (e.g. return on investment, savings, schedule)
- Driving negotiation processes to ensure optimal pricing and terms
- Leading cross-functional teams in the execution of sourcing strategies
- Accountable for supplier assessments, supplier development, supplier business continuity plans and suppliers complying with the government regulations, industrial standards and export control
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders to forecast demand and ensure supply
- Managing risk within the supply chain
- Continually identifying opportunities for cost and process improvements
- Develop innovative solutions to rationalise the supplier base identifying preferred sources of supply and introducing new sources of supply where applicable
- Accountable to gather market intelligence and trends for the commodity, identify risks & opportunities within the commodity and works closely with stakeholders to eliminate or take mitigating actions for strategic risks
- Ensure adherence to functional processes and procedures and at all times ensure own compliance to their Code of Conduct, Ethics and Business Conduct Policy, and health & safety practices
- Assist in other areas or perform other duties as assigned to support the business needs
- Accountable for the commercial and supplier compliance framework in which the suppliers will operate, ensuring cost competitiveness, cost avoidance, value improvement and sustainable procurement are achieved
- Responsible for resolving commercial and compliance issues arising within the supply chain
- Provide management and leadership to Sourcing Team
Skills and Experience: - Degree qualified or relevant professional certification within Supply Chain Management (CIPS)
- Experience Minimum 5 years’ hands on experience with a proven track record in strategic sourcing, commercial negotiation, contractual terms & conditions negotiation and contract formation in a manufacturing environment
- Must have extensive commodity management and supplier relationship management experience
- Must have a proven track record and experience of on timely meeting targets & tight deadlines
- Experience working successfully with international businesses and understanding the intricacies and nuances of various cultures and countries
- Excellent understanding & knowledge of legal aspects of procurement contracts
- Experience of structured contract formation and terms and conditions
- Strong commercial acumen
- Excellent verbal & written communication and presentation skills at all levels
- Excellent numerical reasoning and analytical skills
- Understanding of supply chain management, business operations & processes within manufacturing environment
- Financially astute
- Working knowledge of using Microsoft suite and ERP system – SAP preferred
- Awareness IEC standards & regulations – Desirable
