Hours : 38 hours per week, Mon-Fri (flexible start and finish times to be agreed)
Salary : £43k- £45k per annum (dependant on experience and skills) plus overtime

HYDRO HYDRO is a global aerospace company with headquarters in Germany’s Black Forest. Our UK facility has recently relocated to larger premises due to our continued growth. We are close to the A50, M1 and M42 and within a short commute time from Derby, Nottingham, and Leicester. We are co located on the Rolls-Royce campus on Victory Road, Derby, our largest UK customer.

About the role: Reporting to the General Manager but working with our global team, the role of Operations Manager will be responsible for the overall daily operation for manufacturing, assembly, inspection and be fully accountable for the quality, delivery, cost management and safety performance of the site. Working closely alongside the Operations General Manager and Operations Director the role will also be responsible for ensuring policies and procedures are followed and that key performance indicators and service level agreements are met by ensuring safety, quality and productivity is maintained. The Operation Manager will develop processes that meet business needs across the site, manage complex issues, be involved in long term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy. Providing guidance, leadership, and management support.
Responsibilities: • Plan, organise, and run optimum day to day operations for the manufacturing, assembly, and inspection
• Provide leadership to the site to meet customer requirements for safety, cost, delivery, and compliance
• Direct process and product improvement programs and provide process method excellence throughout
• Maintain strong relationships with functional business partners
• Identify long term investment requirements to support capacity needs
• Responsible for meeting all established cost, quality, and delivery commitments
• Represent the business internally and externally with key stakeholders and interested parties
• Ensure assigned employees are aware and comply with all policies, procedures rules and regulations
• Pursue state of the art technology and processes to enhance product/process
• Be competent in quoting labour hours, sub con and assembly
• Structure assigned organisation and staff positions with HR to accomplish business objectives
• Develop site operating plan and associated budgets for sales and cost performance
• Provide necessary reports to support performance and reporting requirements
• Monitor operations and recommend corrective actions where necessary
• Responsible for production output, product quality and on time delivery.
• Analyse and recommend operational processes, workflow, space requirements and equipment layout.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders
• Set performance objectives and KPI's adopting a consistent approach across the business streams.
• Risk identification, mitigation and escalation and managing such risks
• Reporting progress of all operational areas at weekly intervals to the General Manager.
• Support the General Manager with interviewing, selection, hiring and training of employees.
• Encouraging and supporting a culture of process compliance and improvement.
• Continually assess and highlight hazards to the General Manager.
• To be proactively involved in the annual load and capacity review and budget process for HYDRO UK.
• Travel as and when required to all worldwide HYDRO and customers sites.
• Any other reasonable duties as assigned by the General Manager and SLT team.
Expected Qualifications, Skills, Experience and Knowledge: • At least 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing leadership role, preferably in the Aerospace Industry.
• Fully competent in reading complex engineering drawings, with the ability to quote the full manufacture of the product.
• Proven experience in an Operation Management role
• Experience in Manufacturing Engineering and Quality Inspection.
• Strong management & leadership skills
• Knowledge of production, production planning, inventory management and standard cost systems
• Excellent technical understanding and evaluation of customers’ needs
• Commands respect, displaying a presence, being approachable, enthusiastic, and confident.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build relationships with a range of internal and external customers at all levels
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Good commercial experience and understanding of business cases and cost management.
• Decisive with a positive approach to change.
• Self-disciplined with excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Able to prioritise tasks and deal with several queries simultaneously.
• Self-motivated, with the ability in turn to motivate others.
• Ability to manage own priorities and workload.
• Valid UK passport.
• Valid UK Driving licence.
