Treasurer

Letchworth Garden Shed

Location

Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire | United Kingdom

Job description

We have an opportunity for someone who is as  excited about the good things  a library of things can do for its community as we are.

What will you be doing?

This could be a  perfect role for you if you're interested in the sharing economy, in collective action addressing climate change, and creating opportunities for all members of the community, including those who might be struggling financially.

If you have the skills to  keep our finances in line with the regulations governing CICs, design our record keeping procedures, track our funding and spending, run payroll for our 3 part-time managers, submit reports, and advise on financial planning,  that's great.  If you can do all that, would like to join forces with a group of enthusiastic locals, and think that a library of things would be a huge asset to the community, then that's even better, and we should definitely have a chat.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with a background in accounting and finance. Experience in being a treasurer and/ or working with a CIC would be marvellous, but we're a small team, and we'd like to work with someone who's as sold on the library of things idea as we are. If you're interested in the sharing or circular economies, in creating opportunities for everyone to participate in addressing climate change, regardless of household income, or in enriching the lives of people in the community, then we'd love to show you around.

What difference will you make?

We are a very new project, and have only been operating since August. Your expertise and input will help us establish the Shed as a reliable, well-organised organisation. At this early stage, it's crucial that we build on the goodwill we've created and demonstrate to our borrowers and funders that they can have confidence in us as a long-term community resource. Moving forward, your support will help shape our strategic planning and fundraising. If you have opinions about what how many lawnmowers in stock is too many, what items would encourage young people into STEM areas, whether anyone would be interested in borrowing a cakepop maker, then the team would love that, too.

Before you apply

If you're interested to learn more about us and the role, contact us via Reach and we'll set up a time to chat - looking forward to hearing from you!
