Job Description Summary
As a Senior Contract Manager at HPC construction site you will manage the commercial and contractual aspects of a power project construction site according to project and sub-contractual requirements pursuing commercial, financial and scheduling targets.
Job Description
Main responsibilities:
Site subcontract formation
- Establish the site contract administration strategy including subcontracting strategy with the site manager and project manager M&E
- Support construction and commissioning to issue the request for tenders, evaluate, select the preferred tenderer
- Negotiate the Ts&Cs of subcontracts
Site subcontract management
- Administer the execution of site subcontracts ensuring that GE’s rights are enforced
- Overse subcontractor correspondence
- Establish and maintain event logs, risk and claims registers where required
- Develop and execute claims strategy with site manager and project manager M&E
- Prepare notices, claims and counterclaims as well as change orders in collaboration with project team and negotiate and settle them
- Monitor NCR management, and enforce back-charges
- Verify payment applications
- Supervise re-measurement under site subcontracts. In particular, participate in all final accounts with subcontractors
- Ensure site history records including daily activity reports and contractor hours are recorded
Site customer issues
- Support project team on contractual issues focused on site (eg site correspondence, providing information to Project Manager (Commercial) for customer claims, keeping up to date claim event forms, insurance claims)
- Track all delays, related cost and damages and disputed issues at Site, and advise mitigation plan to Site Manager
- Monitor Contractual Milestones and review Project Schedule periodically with project planners/schedulers
- Attend daily, Weekly, Monthly, Start–up, Site Management & Progress review meetings to capture/ identify the delays, damages and disputed issues
- Maintain delay event (Construction/ Commissioning) logs and in co-ordination with the Project Manager (Commercial) a back-charge Claims log with customer
- Ensure that all non-budged costs including delay are properly identified and classified, and claim notifications are submitted in accordance with contractual obligations
- Compile backup documentation for delays, claims, back- charges and rejections
- In co-ordination with the Project Manager (Commercial), manage insurance claims in accordance with contractual obligations and insurance policies. Interface with the loss adjusters.
Basic qualifications:
- High Degree in an appropriate technical subject (e.g. Quantity Surveying, Civil, Construction or Engineering).
- Additional Project Management and/or Commercial or legal education. Professional registration would be beneficial.
- 8 years of experience as Site Contract Manager preferably in the power industry on large/complex projects.
- Good commercial knowledge for assessing business risks and opportunities to undertake commercial negotiations
- Good knowledge of project contracts and contract law
- Good knowledge of claims management
- Business fluent in English language
Desired qualifications:
- Proven experience in the administration and contractual management of capital construction projects (power plants, petrochemical plants, civil and infrastructure building projects, etc.)
- Good Commercial and Legal Knowledge
- Strong planning skills and knowledge of cost control principles
