A Vacancy at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust.
University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust Women’s and Children’s Services Division Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department – Furness General Hospital, Barrow-In-Furness Specialty Doctor - Second tier. The new South Lakes Birth Centre at the Furness General Hospital undertakes approximately 1,000 deliveries per annum and provides a Labour Ward, Neonatal Unit, Antenatal and Post-natal services incorporating a Day assessment unit. Out-patient gynaecology, colposcopy & hysteroscopy Clinics are provided together with an Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit. There is also a weekly unplanned pregnancy clinic. We are looking to recruit a Specialty Doctors to start as soon as possible. The post holder will provide general Obstetrics and Gynaecology Services and take part in a 6 Doctor full shift rota. We would be able to support a candidate working towards their CESR qualification. Furness General Hospital is a modern District General Hospital located on the edge of Barrow-in-Furness. It serves the population of the Furness peninsula and the surrounding part of South Cumbria. Barrow in Furness is perfectly situated just outside the beautiful Lake District National Park. We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
