We are looking to recruit for various PSV/HGV Technician (Nights) to join our Engineering team based at Battersea Depot, working a shift pattern of 4 nights on and 4 nights off.
Transport UK London Bus operates bus services across London on behalf of TFL, plus rail replacement and event services across the UK. We operate over nine per cent of the London’s bus network, running 800 vehicles and employing around 2,700 employees across six depots in Central, South and West London. We run a number of routes, carrying over 150 million passengers a year on TfL’s contracted bus network.
Duties include:
- Carry out repairs, inspections and maintenance of our public service fleet vehicles
- Investigate, diagnose and record modern vehicle mechanical & electronic faults
- Able to work well using own initiative
- Clearly document faults and rectification work conducted in detail with the aid of electronic tablets
- Confidently use modern technical computer systems of fleet management
- Able to read and interpret instructions and service manuals
- Have a duty of care for the health and safety of yourself and your colleagues at all times
- Always follow safety instructions in respect of your role and the business as a whole and report unsafe acts of omissions of safety
- Undertake any other duties commensurate with the job role
All candidates must:
- Must have qualifications for maintenance and repair of public service vehicles or heavy goods vehicles to a minimum of NVQ level 2 or any equivalent international qualification, which will require associated confirmation from an awarding body
- If you don’t possess the qualifications, applications may be considered from candidates if at least 5 years’ experience in repair and maintenance of public service or heavy goods vehicles can be evidenced and who are prepared to undertake an entrance exam
- Must have good literacy and numeracy skills
- Able to communicate effectively and have the confidence to work collaboratively with colleagues within Engineering and other departments is essential
- Must be punctual and meet deadlines and work flexibly when required
- Must be prepared to undertake training as seen fit by the Service Manager
- Holding a PCV licence is desirable but not essential

During the 6 month probationary period, candidates who do not possess the necessary qualifications will be required to undertake and pass the IRTEC Service Maintenance Technician.
