Job description
A groundbreaking start-up working on novel DNA/RNA sequencing technology is recruiting a Scientist to join its team based in Edinburgh on a permanent basis. The company has just closed out their pre-series A funding round and is investing heavily in all areas of its team as it looks to release its product for clinical studies.
You will design and conduct vital laboratory tests and experiments – which will include high-throughput RNA sequencing. This role will be suitable for a well-qualified (BSc or above) candidate possessing relevant work experience gained in either an academic or industry setting.
Scientist responsibilities
Design and conduct laboratory tests and experiments independently, ensuring accuracy and precision
Optimise laboratory protocols
Manage samples
Record and report day to day activities
Analyse laboratory results
Write and present scientific reports
Collaborate with other scientists in the team to plan and execute laboratory projects
Scientist requirements
Bachelor’s degree in biology, and a minimum of five years of industry or academic experience working in genomics or related research fields
Extensive experience of working with RNA
Excellent laboratory techniques and skills in PCR, nucleic acid extraction, and transcriptomic and/or genomic library construction
Excellent organisational skills
Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping
Ability to work individually or as part of a team
