Job description
What you will do in your working day
- Conduct topographical surveys with total stations, capturing land features, contours, often requiring nationwide travel for diverse site locations, including visiting interesting and unique buildings
- Perform detailed measured building surveys, including dimensions, detailed elevations, and structural elements, using laser scanners, potentially across various regions and on architecturally significant structures
- Process and analyse survey data for accuracy, adjusting as necessary, which might involve data from different geographic locations and a variety of building types
- Create precise 2D and 3D models of surveyed areas using CAD software, integrating real-time survey data, accommodating projects from across the country, including historic and iconic buildings
The training you will be getting
- Expect a combination of classroom learning and hands-on field training, emphasising practical application of surveying equipment like total stations and laser scanners
- Training on CAD software, involving both theoretical lessons and practical exercises to master 2D and 3D modelling
- Regular assessments and feedback sessions to monitor progress and understanding of surveying principles and equipment usage
- Continuous learning opportunities, including workshops and off-site training, to keep skills updated with evolving surveying technologies and methods
- On-the-job training
- Off-the-job trianing
- Block release training to SMB Group - Stephenson Campus
- Apprentice will be working towards a Level 3 Construction Support Technician Qualification
