Job description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Occupational Health Advisor to work part-time for Gwent Police at their Police Headquarters in Cwmbran.

This is a temporary role.

You will be working part-time hours preferably working 2 full days a week.

PLEASE NOTE DUE TO THE POLICE VETTING CRITERIA YOU MUST HAVE RESIDED WITHIN THE UK CONTINUOUSLY FOR AT LEAST 3 YEARS AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION. UNFORTUNATELY ANYTHING LESS THAT THIS CRITERIA WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

As an Occupational Health Advisor (OHA), you will be required to provide evidence based Occupational Health services to Police Officers and Staff in a caring and respectful manner whilst preserving their dignity, making sure there is complete adherence to clinical compliance and regulatory/governance in accordance to all relevant policies, service standards, guidelines and statutory requirements.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Deliver an efficient and effective Occupational Health service, ensuring all activities are delivered professionally and sensitively, including the provision of specialist advice to the Force on workplace health issues and to ensure that it meets its obligations under health and safety legislation, Equality Act, Working Time Regulations and other relevant legislation.



  2. Manage complex cases on a regular basis, including the assessment of physical and mental health needs, conducting case review meetings and referral, where necessary, to internal and external health specialists.



  3. Provide comprehensive management updates and work in partnership with the HR Team and line managers to assist in the management of absence, restricted duties and return to work issues.



  4. Conduct health and pre-employment medical screening and preventative



  5. To triage Occupational Health referrals for assignment to the OHA and Force Medical Advisor (FMA)



  6. Deliver an effective and efficient vaccination service to Officers and Staff in the Occupational Health Unit and by travelling independently around and outside of the Force establishment delivering and promoting the service such as during annual Flu Campaigns and Hepatitis B clinics



  7. Provide guidance, support and health education to individuals and groups on a confidential basis, raise awareness of health risks, promote a healthy and safe working environment and undertake clinical services as directed



  8. To undertake the Structured Interviews for the Psychological Screening of High-Risk Roles where required following training.



  9. To provide support to the Occupational Health & Wellbeing Manager with relevant projects and deputise when necessary.



  10. Monitor as directed, factors that may affect the health and welfare of employees and bring specific health matters to the attention of the Occupational Health & Wellbeing Manager.



  11. Ensure that any medical equipment and stores are kept in good order and replenished when required.
