Job description
The Market Hall and Town Hall are based in the historic market town of Abergavenny. The
venue hosts the markets provision with lively weekly markets taking place. The Market Hall
is part of MonLife group of services with the Council. It is also part of a wider ecology of
services, facilities and attractions in the area which make Abergavenny and
Monmouthshire a good place to live, work and visit. It is important the Market Hall plays its
role in this and we seek to ensure that we operate regular Markets for local traders and
those further afield, that will bring in valuable footfall to the town, local businesses and
contributes to supporting and driving the local economy.
We are looking for a motivated individual who loves working with people and the wider
Community and will take pride in overseeing and contributing to the upkeep of the market
Hall. The Operations and Events Manager will be responsible for the efficent day to day
running of the Market hall and surrounding spaces. They will oversee the Markets team
and be an ambitious leader with excellent organisational skills who is committed to very
high standards of visitor experience, health and safety and flexible operations. They will
ensure through a partnership approach and working with key services within the Council,
that the Market Hall is accessible, energy efficient and an exciting community space that
provides events that attract both local residents and visitors.
