Job Description
Please note: This is a day shift role, 39 hrs per week, working 12 hour shifts (7am to 7pm) on a 3 on 3 off basis.
Job Purpose
- The effective leadership, organisation and supervision of all Warehouse Operatives and activities at Snetterton
- To manage a team of Warehouse Operatives in the duties of unloading and loading, picking, Health & Safety and housekeeping
- Movement of palletised goods utilising a (VNA, counterbalance & reach) fork lift truck and recording accurately
- To monitor and record accurately the team’s and site performance
- To effectively manage the behaviour of Warehouse operatives
Key Accountabilities
Safety
- Responsibility for ensuring compliance with all site systems and maintaining a safe working environment
- Responsible for shift compliance: PPE, 5S, housekeeping standards and behavioural audits as part of all warehousing sites performance control systems
- Take site responsibility for specific safety duties, including taking on the role of Incident Controller in event of evacuation
- Reduce accidents through accident, near miss reporting Safety conversations, Hazard conversations and investigation, deliver behavioural observations through the team
- Support training requirements and records for the team. Work with the Warehouse Manager to share and execute best practice
- Create and deliver plans to maintain and improve quality and site audit standards, ensuring no non-conformances
- Support the business SLOB (slow & obsolescence) process and reduce faulty goods to 0.2% of net sales
- Reduce damaged stock (caused by the warehouse) to <0.1% of sales
Quality
- Ensure product quality standards, systems and checks are compliant
- Completion of relevant quality auditing tasks in line with company standards
- Deliver Internal Audits and implement corrective actions in a timely manner
Service
- Responsible for all raw materials and finished goods within all warehouse sites, including intake and loading
- Ensure the conformance to plan measure is met through planning and driving of the load plan, reviewing performance with managers and the team, resources to ensure the service KPI for the shift and site is delivered
- Using the Labour Plan model to plan each shift
- Escalate & communicate issues with SOP team & transport to minimise service issues
- Ensures OTIF of Finished Goods to the Goods Out lines to meet plan
- Deliver the site target of customer service level every week (99.5 %)
- Stock accuracy targets delivered every shift, audit and review aisle locations
- Communicate appropriately with 3PLs to ensure they have the right information to serve our customers appropriately
- Coach and lead a warehouse team to achieve picking accuracy targets
- Ensure team responds professionally and with urgency to all customer complaints and issues, which may impact on customer service
Cost
- Ensures labour is utilised in line with standards and temporary labour is managed efficiently to manage gaps in manning. This includes managing the relationship with the agency
- Reviews site performance with a warehouse team to ensure service OTIF can be delivered
- Absence targets are delivered and effective return to works’ are conducted. The absence policy is adhered to and poor absence is managed appropriately
- Achieve the site variable labour target each day/week
- Creating and delivering plans to reduce costs and improve efficiency through the warehouse team
- Support planning to deliver stockholdings of raw materials and finished goods stock holding to 0.5 and 1 week of Net Sales respectively
Warehouse
- Carry out one to ones with a warehouse team 3 monthly, with a formal appraisal every 12 months
- All over-performing & under-performing staff are managed appropriately and within company procedures
- Engage with all employees to convey all news/company business updates & wellbeing initiatives
- Conduct investigations and informal/formal meetings in accordance with company procedures
- Shift Audits and housekeeping reviews are planned and delivered each shift
- Ensure staff are trained, validated and signed off on all legal, safety, quality and operational aspects of their job. Training needs are defined and planned with consultation from Warehouse Manager
- Support and promote adherence to PCS systems and the standards
- Consult with Warehouse Manager to complete and deliver performance appraisals
- Deliver warehouse stock accuracy to 99.5%
- Accountable for completing of Cycle Count Schedules and schedule in a weekly plan
- Deliver Absence >3.5%
- First point of contact for their respective shifts at all times
- FG controls and counting responsibilities
- Implementation of Deputy Lead Hands and coach / development on all shifts
- Implementation of Load Plan training for Deputies & cover
- Support training/coaching for all operators on equipment to be multi-functional on shift
- Lead technical requirements, support and plan for corrective actions raised on audits or external functions
Additional duties & responsibilities
- Effective management & communication of shift reports & loss intelligence systems
- Effective handovers with oncoming / leaving shift teams
- Weekly review of shift & process performance with Warehouse Manager
- Involvement & leading of Continuous Improvement projects or focus groups
- Supporting external audits, supporting and conducting internal audits
- Assists with special projects
- Become a super user on the IFS & Cedar Bay business system
- Responsibility of Stock Take responsibilities within the site
Qualifications
Essential
- Conscious of Health & Safety of themselves and others at all times
- Current and valid counterbalance and reach truck licenses.
- Capable of prioritising tasks
- Able to effectively manage people, systems and processes
- Good understanding or warehousing and/or manufacturing
- Ability to work alone or as part of team
- Good management experience
- Sound working knowledge of Microsoft office products
- Full UK driving licence
