Job Description
· What will you be doing?
As an embedded software engineer, you will join the Reading team to support our activities within the Defence sector.
You will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and maintenance of cutting-edge embedded software solutions. Your work will directly impact the effectiveness of critical communication systems used by defence and government agencies. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and researchers to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of our products.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Embedded Software Development: Design, develop, and maintain embedded software for defence communication systems, ensuring adherence to industry standards and security protocols.
- System Integration: Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate software with hardware components, ensuring seamless operation and reliability.
- Performance Optimization: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, and other software-related issues to enhance system efficiency.
- Testing and Validation: Conduct thorough testing, debugging, and validation of embedded software to meet stringent quality and reliability standards.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including design specifications, code comments, and user manuals.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including systems engineers, hardware engineers, and project managers, to ensure successful project execution.
- Compliance: Ensure that all software development activities comply with industry regulations, security guidelines, and customer requirements.

Qualifications
Experience, skills and
qualifications
required:
- Proven experience (3+ Years) in embedded software development, particularly in C/C++.
- Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded software development tools.
- Knowledge of secure coding practices and encryption algorithms.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to obtain security clearance as required for defence projects.
- Degree in a relevant engineering field
