Scape is a brandand service lead provider of purpose-built residential accommodation (PBSA). Weare the only truly global provider of PBSA with c.30,000 beds in operation anddevelopment in the UK, Ireland and Australia and are currently building out thenext generation of city living solutions across the leading cities of the UK,USA and Australia with c.10,000 beds under development.

In the last two years we have raised £1.5bn infresh capital and partnered with institutional funds to launch a new REIT tohold our operational assets and expand our development pipeline. Withinstitutional backing, Scape are developing a series of exciting, large-scaleopportunities across the UK in purpose-built student accommodation and buildingco-living properties to support our new City Living brand. As a result, we arenow expanding our finance team. .

Location: Harrogate

Hours: Monday - Friday, 35 hours per week

Fixed Term, I year maternity cover.

Onboarding Requirements: The successful candidate will be asked to complete a DBS check and provide references to cover the last 3 years.

The Scape Finance Team

The Scape UK finance team is based in Harrogate and provides accounting and finance to the UK assets, including operational assets and development assets.The team’s work includes investor reporting, management accounting, statutory reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.

The Role

The role of Management Accountant is to support the Senior Finance Manager in the preparation and submission of management accounts for the Scape management companies.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation of management accounts packs including calculation and posting of accruals, prepayments, payroll journals
• Variance analysis and assistance with preparation of monthly P+Ls
• Preparation of monthly recharges and reconciliation of intercompany balances, working with finance team to investigate any differences
• Monthly reconciliation of balance sheet codes
• Maintaining sales ledgers, ensuring the invoiced amounts reflect any contract changes and are collected in a timely manner
• Preparation of VAT returns
• Respond to audit queries and provide information for preparation of statutory accounts
• Maintain controls and processes
• Other tasks as required to support the finance team
• Support of Senior Finance Manager on project based work

Skills & Experience

• Qualified or part qualified accountant
• Experience of preparing management accounts
• Experience of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Ability to take ownership of role and prioritise/manage workload
• Deliver accurate output
• Good level of Excel skills and overall IT literacy
• Strong communication skills with a need to be able to communicate with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
• Experience using Microsoft Navision an advantage
• Experience working within property or construction an advantage
• Experience working in student accommodation an advantage
