Managing Director

Nevill Holt Festival

Location

Central London | United Kingdom

Job description

Nevill Holt recently announced an exciting new chapter in its award-winning history as it becomes Nevill Holt Festival, welcoming a lineup of internationally renowned artists to Leicestershire in June. In order to make the festival accessible to more people and to enjoy a sustainable future, Nevill Holt Opera’s Board (Chaired by James Hunt) commissioned an extensive survey inviting audiences to share their thoughts on the organisation’s future. Drawing upon its findings, they decided to develop a new broader festival concept for 2024 and invited guest Festival Director James Dacre to curate its inaugural season for June 2024 and to recruit a team to deliver this summer’s programme. Nevill Holt Festival is now recruiting a Managing Director to work alongside the Festival Director to collaboratively lead this team for this year’s festival and beyond.

The Managing Director will combine a passion for opera, music, literature, and the performing arts with a desire to reach new audiences in innovative ways. They will have a proven record of success as an arts leader and a skilled manager of people, projects, and festivals. This full time role will join the Festival Team in advance of the Nevill Holt Festival 2024, working with the part time Festival Director and Board to deliver an exceptional inaugural festival programme. From July 2024 onwards they will lead Nevill Holt Festival towards an ambitious, resilient, and inclusive future, working closely with the Festival Director and Board of Directors to ensure good governance, communication, and transparency, leading a high-performing festival team and fostering a culture of success among all Nevill Holt Festival stakeholders.

With responsibility for providing a professional, efficient and confidential management function for Nevill Holt Festival, the Managing Director will build and manage resources (both contributed and earned); produce productions, concerts and events; drive the long-term strategic planning for the Festival and ensure the healthy operation and fiscal management of the company.

Nevill Holt Festival and Nevill Holt Community Arts are respectively a limited company and an independent charity, both run by a Board and Festival Team. Over 70% of the organisation’s income comes from box office sales, membership donations, Gift Aid and Theatre Tax Relief with the remainder fundraised from trusts, foundations, sponsors and individual giving.
