Job description

What you will do in your working day

• Handling day to day queries from staff

• Installing, configuring, and maintaining software and hardware components of computer and network systems

• Diagnosing and troubleshooting software and hardware issues

• Repairing and replacing damaged computer and network components

• Ensuring the security of client and server computers

• Supporting people whenever they encounter challenges with computers and network devices

• Create bespoke IT solutions to staff issues and queries using Excel, Access and other software’s available

• Testing new hardware and software before full-scale installation

• Work with production team to solve any IT issues that may arise

o Working in Food safe high care environment when necessary

• Any other reasonable duties as required by the IT Manager, Client Care

• To ensure the highest possible levels of customer and supplier care are delivered thereby ensuring excellent levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business.

The training you will be getting

L3 Information communications technician Apprenticeship standard

The IT apprentice will undergo a comprehensive training program that covers a wide range of technical skills and knowledge relevant to the IT industry. This includes hands-on experience with hardware and software troubleshooting, system maintenance, network administration, and security protocols. The training will also encompass exposure to industry-standard tools and technologies. At the end of the apprenticeship, the apprentice will receive a recognized qualification in IT, Additionally, they will gain valuable practical experience and skills that align with the requirements of the IT industry, making them well-prepared for entry-level positions in the field. All training will take place at the employers’ premises.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

The aim is to progress to the full-time position of IT Technician, with subsequent opportunities for advancement within the department or across the broader company. In the long term, there are likely opportunities to progress to supervisor and then manager levels. The above will depend on the successful completion of the apprenticeship.
