Commissioning Engineer – Contract Role
Location: Severn Trent Water
Anderselite are working with a Tier 1 Main Contractor on the Severn Trent Water Framework to recruit for a freelance Commissioning Engineer on a freelance basis.
Role Purpose - Commissioning of water treatment and water pumping projects to both the Client & NWG Requirements and Standards. Close out of the project commissioning requirements to the satisfaction of STW and Client Handover Procedures
Duties:
- Attend project progress meetings throughout design and construction periods
- Review subcontractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements
- Produce Risk Assessment and Method Statements for commissioning activities
- Carry out fault finding procedures on assets during the commissioning phase of projects
- Be the commissioning focal point for commissioning activities, liaising with clients, internal, third party and subcontractor staff members
- Liaise with numerous subcontractors working on projects to ensure they deliver the work efficiently & in accordance with programme. Liaise and organise subcontractors to rectify snags and defects in an efficient and timely manner
- Attend morning briefings and provide briefings of MEP nature as and when required
- Liaise with ME & P subcontractors and assist with construction and technical issues for the project
- Review ‘Construction’ drawings and add annotation in the form of ‘red pen’ comments
- Arrange subcontractors to update drawings from ‘Construction’ to ‘As Built’ status in a timely manner
- Assist the Project Leader to complete projects in a timely manner by resolving defects and provide O&M information
- Arrange subcontractors training and ensure it is carried to the correct level
- Raise ‘Event Notices’ on the commercial system when they arise
- Review subcontractor quotations during design stages to assist with agreeing which subcontractors to use for particular schemes
- Review Sub Contractors quotations for compensation events and provide comments accordingly
- Set up apparatus to ensure all the equipment interfaces correctly and complies with the Functional Design Specification and Control Philosophy
- Carry out calibrations on instrumentation to ensure all equipment functions correctly
- Carry out instrumentation testing and commissioning, such as analytical process performance testing to verify the assets comply with client’s requirements
- Oversee suppliers and subcontractors testing and commissioning activities. Ensure the documentation is of high quality and provided in a timely manner
Requirements:
- CSCS of ESCS
- Electrical and Mechanical Competencies
- Apprentice or Higher Education, Electrical, Mechanical or Process Qualifications
- Confined Spaces – Not Essential but Ideal
- National Water Hygiene
- Electrical Authorised Person Previously- Not Essential but ideal
- IEE 18th Edition Electrical Certification
- SSSTS
