Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant

Location: Newport

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30 - 15:30

Pay: Minimum £11.85ph

Start: March 2024

Teaching Personnel is presently seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant for a partner school in Newport. In this role, you will provide essential support to a pupil with severe behavioral issues and Additional Learning Needs (ALN) within a mainstream classroom setting. This role requires you to work closely with the class teacher, demonstrating strength, resilience, and patience to effectively assist the identified pupil and contribute to the overall positive learning environment.

Key Requirements for a Successful 1:1 Teaching Assistant:

• To be registered with the EWC (Education Workforce Council)
• Hold a Child only DBS certificate that is registered on the Update System.
• Provide 2 professional references covering 24 months.
• To be strong and resilient when facing challenging behaviour. Demonstrated strength and resilience in managing challenging behavior.

While prior professional experience with children having Special Educational Needs (SEN) is beneficial, we welcome applications from individuals with personal experience or a strong willingness to engage and develop skills in this domain.

Responsibilities of the 1:1 Teaching Assistant:

• Support your pupils in all aspects of the school day.
• Cultivate a positive and supportive environment, actively promoting the growth and development of students.
• Establish trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and parents, providing social and emotional support.
• Establish a safe and nurturing environment that encourages the optimal development of each student.
• Adhere to the school's safeguarding and protection policies.
• Work effectively with fellow teachers and teaching assistants, adopting a collaborative team-oriented approach.
• Adapt to diverse situations as they arise, demonstrating flexibility in response to evolving needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
