Job description
About the role:
- To assist the Senior Environmental Health Officer in the effective and efficient operation of the Environmental Protection Section.
- Organise and implement the monitoring, risk assessment and improvement of private water supplies.
- Be the lead officer for the management of Council controlled cemeteries including arranging public health funerals, advising on home burials and supervising exhumations.
About you:
- Possess a relevant degree or appropriate environmental qualification
- Have appropriate technical knowledge and an understanding of the statutory and regulatory functions of the post
- Be competent in the use of information technology
- Work as part of a team with minimal supervision
- The ability to travel around the county
- Be a good communicator, both orally and in writing
What you will do:
- Organising and collecting private water samples from properties throughout the County, including providing information to the public and enforcement action when required.
- Lead in the day to day operation council controlled cemeteries. Speaking to undertakers and families. Arranging contractors and ensuring burial records are maintained accurately.
- Arranging Public Health funerals
- Advising the public about home burials
- Assist Environmental Health officers with Planning applications
