Title: Laboratory Scientist (Serology)
Type: Permanent
Hours: Full-Time (37 hours per week)
Salary: £24,620 - £28,128 per annum

An exciting position has arisen for a Laboratory Scientist with a background in Serology to work within SRUC’s Veterinary Services group, based in Central Analytical Laboratory at the Pentland Science Park near Penicuik. The main purpose of the role is the testing of samples submitted for serological analysis using ELISA.

Main duties include:
• Preparing and testing ruminant blood, tissue and faecal samples mainly by ELISA
• General housekeeping
• Reviewing quality control data
• Reporting results in LIMS
• Routine maintenance of laboratory equipment
• Selection and procurement of lab equipment and consumables
• Support staff training, supervision and deputising for the Senior Laboratory Scientist
• To help maintain the current UKAS accreditation status of the laboratory including internal and external quality assessment exercises
• Assist in complying with current health and safety procedures and enhancing the health and safety culture of the laboratory

Candidates should possess previous experience of working in an accredited laboratory and be educated to SCQF Level 9 or above in Biological sciences or other relevant subject.
