The Role
The role of the Business Analyst is to act as a conduit between the IT team and business teams to identify business requirements, document those business requirements, ensure the solutions being designed meet those business requirements and support the business through the implementation and roll out of the programmes and projects to deliver those requirements. The Business Analyst will take a lead role in supporting the business to understand their business problems and what the best solution is for those problems – this might be systems based or indeed process or organisationally focused.
The Business Analyst will identify, create and facilitate process design changes by conducting business and systems process analysis as required,
The Business Analyst will own the Business Requirements Documentation and Business Requirements Traceability Matrix and will ensure that the Solution Design Documents support those business requirements. The Business Analyst will work alongside IT internally and externally where required to ensure that the business requirements are fully understood – translating and simplifying those requirements where needed into more business or technical language as required depending upon the audience.
The Business Analyst will assist with the writing of business cases and the identification of business benefits and their monitoring. The Business Analyst will work with the wider team to ensure that the business elements of testing are prepared for including UAT. This will also involve supporting the Super User and business communities in the writing of test scripts and business scenarios as well as overseeing and supporting the business teams in the execution of UAT and the tracking and monitoring of its progress. Working alongside the IT teams to feedback UAT results and follow up as required.
The Business Analyst will be a trusted member of the IT team to work with the business and will use their knowledge and experience in retail to build that trust.
The Business Analyst will be expected to take an active role in the life of the IT team taking on internal projects and cross functional activities where required.
The Business Analyst role will also play a role within the Design Authority and broader Architecture function within IT.
Responsibilities
·Document and own the Business Requirements using the Business Requirements document.
·Support the business teams and work alongside them and IT to prioritise requirements. ·Capture BI requirements as part of the documentation of the business requirements in the Business Requirements Document. ·Support the business in the writing of business cases and conducting cost/benefit analysis. ·Support the business in prioritising the workload that comes through to the IT team. ·Analyse and Model requirements and own the requirement and their communication end to end throughout the lifecycle of the programme or project. ·Solution Assessment and Validation. ·Run workshops and other communication events/types to elicit requirements from the business. ·Own the delivery of these business requirements through the solution delivery by owning and maintaining the Requirements Traceability document. ·Write business scenarios/user cases and test scenarios for business related testing in UAT working alongside the business stakeholders. ·Assess business processes and systems inefficiencies and make recommendations. ·Provide Business Analysis skills for the detailed review of Change Requests that come through from the business looking at the overall impact of the change, whether an IT solution is the appropriate solution or whether the challenges can be addressed through business process change. ·Throughout testing provide feedback to IT on the progress of UAT and outputs/conclusions. ·Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders as required. ·Build strategic relationships within the business teams with all stakeholders. ·Act as point contact for one/two key functional areas within the business. ·Project Manage small projects as required ·Take a significant role in working with the IT and business teams to ensure that handover from project status to BAU is achieved successfully. ·Act as an escalation point as required for 3rd and 4th line support on business challenges.Skills & Qualities
·A retail industry background as a Business Analyst with exceptional written and oral communication skills.
·Demonstrable expertise in one or two key areas within the retail operational environment (Buying & Merchandising, Wholesale, Production, Finance, Logistics). ·The ability to work closely with business stakeholders, to understand their business and can translate their requirements. ·An in depth understanding of the businesses strategy and IT roadmap and the context within which the business operates. ·Can understand and document the capabilities needed to address the business challenges – what are the business problems that need to be solved?·Can switch between business and more technical language as required depending on the audience being communicated with. ·Experience of assisting with business case development and business benefits identification and tracking. ·Experience of building business scenarios and test scripts to support UAT and other types of testing. ·Analytical thinker who is also able to be creative and innovative in the way they look to solve business challenges. ·Experience of working within an omni-channel environment. ·ISEB. ·A cross-functional awareness of the retail environment. ·ERP experience within a retail environment NetSuite(ideally)/Microsoft Dynamics/SAP/Oracle.What We Offer
