The Opportunity

Come and join us as Solar & Storage Performance Analyst where you’ll work with the Performance Team to deliver the reporting needs of the Operations team and provide the business with the performance analysis necessary to ensure the assets are being operated to their maximum levels over their lifetime.

As Solar & Storage Performance Analyst you will be responsible for ensuring that the business is able to deliver this level of performance. Focussing on delivering the systems, tools, models and industry leading techniques and technologies to ensure the Performance team and the wider Asset Operations team have the necessary skills, tools, knowledge and platforms to deliver this objective.

Our ambition is to be a distinctive and recognised leader in the UK and Ireland, developing our assets under operation to c.5GW by 2030.

Location:  Hybrid working with visits to either London, Durham or Edinburgh offices.

You’ll be great at….

You’ll be responsible for overseeing the performance side of the solar and storage portfolio, leading on the development and maintenance of the appropriate process and procedures.

• Responsible for delivering and maintaining the on-boarding and hand-over to Asset Operations of new technologies and new systems. Co-ordinating with Development and the new technology teams to ensure the Asset Operations team is ready and able to perform its required additional responsibilities.
• Responsible for delivering and maintaining the strategy and implementation of the systems and tools necessary for the Performance team to carry out its solar and storage analysis and reporting activities. Responsible for overall design, build and maintenance of the tools required for the Asset Operations team, linking numerous SCADA and PI/GENESYS data sources with Excel/MS Access/Tableau/R models, and bespoke software products as necessary.
• Daily monitoring of the Solar & Storage portfolios, supporting the wider Asset Management team with communication updates and reports as necessary.
• Responsible for the production of regular detailed analysis that ensures that solar and storage assets are performing to at least the manufacturer’s Warranted efficiency and Power Ratios.
• Analyse the performance of the BESS; conduct downtime analysis, identify under-performing areas and sub-systems, provide an understanding of system behaviour, and direct improvements & updates to improve system availability and capacity.
• Analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) like BESS Storage Availability, Charge/Discharge Energy, SoC and prepare reports (dashboards and presentations) to share with internal and external stakeholders.
• Develop tools and automation (such as scripts, Python codes) to collect and process data for directing system operation and maintenance (O&M) and monitoring BESS plant performance, such as flagging underperforming assets in real-time.

The skills you’ll need.

You’ll be highly numerate with strong analytical and modelling skills, including proven ability to build and maintain new models as well as challenge existing models.

• Academic qualification at Degree level or recognised equivalent
• Highly organised individual, with ability to manage a large number of activities concurrently.
• Enthusiasm and motivation to work individually and also the required skills to work as part of a team.
• Strong aptitude for data and analysis
• You will be methodical and accurate with attention to detail.
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Strong at building relationships with internal and external parties

• Good technical skills including some experience of databases, automation and coding.
