Job Title: Quality Engineer
Location: Stourbridge
Salary: 35k to 40k pa
Hours: Full Time Mon - Thurs 8.30 - 5pm (30 mins lunch) Fri 8 - 2pm
Our Client is a Leading Forge company, based in Stourbridge , in which a new vacancy has arisen for a Quality Engineer . The company has been established for 75 years and has been successful in developing a solid customer base servicing a number of varied industries.
Job Role
Across two manufacturing plants, assisting the company's efforts to maintain and develop continuous product quality improvement by implementing process controls; carrying out data analysis; improving the reliability of manufacturing processes and equipment and to help optimise product performance.
Monitoring and advising the performance of the quality system, producing data, and measuring quality operations against set standards, also maintaining calibration of the measuring equipment.
Participate in the development and the resolution of quality issues and concerns raised internally, at customer and Tier 1 levels.
Contribute towards problem solving methods and techniques to help identify root cause and assist in the implementation of counter measures. Initiate and Implement corrective measures. Assist with customer visits, presentation of analysis, tracking quality performance at each assigned customer.
Maintain communication of internal and external rejects to stakeholders
Proven technical foundry knowledge associated with production processes, foundry capabilities and controls for high integrity ductile iron. Knowledge and experience of managing quality systems, standards whilst adopting analytical methods to assist in maintaining quality performance. Ability to connect and operate at all levels of the business. Influence change and drive improvement
The successful candidate will have the following:

Participate in quality initiatives to ensure accountability for performance, whilst creating culture of ownership where all employees can evaluate their own performance. Contribute towards maintaining efforts to ensure quality is understood.
Identify opportunities to utilise performance data to help drive quality awareness, decision making and improvement processes.
Promote customer-centric focus to help ensure the customer specific requirements of the customer are always at the centre of the operation. Incessant drive and motivation towards improving the overall customer experience.
Appraise the customers' specific requirements to help ensure that the customer satisfaction is maintained.
Support the overall development of cultural values of being customer-focused and orientated. Assist in the drive towards exceeding expectations.
Promoting awareness of how the company is perceived from the outside and supporting culture of change clearly communicating the company's vision and values.
Provide support to help engage and mentor employees at all levels and assist in the development of skills to fulfil the quality aspects of their roles.
Identification and elimination of potential sources of error through identification of root cause analysis, adoption of quality improvement tools and methods to solve problems.
Ensure quality performance data is reported efficiently and effectively. Facilitate proactive solutions by collecting and analysing quality data.
Promote teamwork and work groups to implement quality improvement initiatives.
Excellent communication skills and teamwork
Working safely with equipment and always wearing the correct PPE
Bringing to the attention of the foundry management any practice that you consider unsafe or illegal anywhere within the company
At all times, ensure that company's Health and Safety and Environmental policy is understood, communicated and upheld.
Support the Quality Manager in areas:
QMS and compliance
Development and maintenance of formal quality system.
Certification processes.
Review current standards and polices.
Maintain control plans.
Instil quality system controls for any process changes, suppliers and materials.
Define and document systems, policies and procedures with robust change control.
Drive targeted improvement to eliminate non-conformances.
Optimise quality system aspects of foundry processes.
Maintain calibration of measuring equipment
Controlling and tracking effectiveness of improvements and corrective actions
Identifying product, process and manufacturing improvements
Reducing variability in casting quality through active pursuit of improvements to our quality system and process controls
Devise procedures to inspect and report quality issues and concerns.
Manage Standard work documentation (SOP) One point lesson. (OPL)
Promote SPC methods and continuous improvement initiatives.
Develop documentation to support the product development.
Internal quality audits and preparation for audit visits by external auditing exercises
Participate in customer audit visits and assessments.
Supplier quality audits
Team work
Participate in cost reduction exercises.
Participating in product design and introduction
Implementation of best practice
Support training matrices
