Job description
Donaghmore Historical Society (DHS) is a charitable organisation founded in 1983 whose main aims are to encourage the study, recording and presentation of the local history of Donaghmore and district and to maintain a society archive. The Society and its archive are located in former National School in Donaghmore village, County Tyrone, now known as Donaghmore Heritage Centre which will be the Heritage Assistant’s work base. The job holder will work closely with DHS committee and its officers to assist with the delivery of its objectives and responsibilities especially with regard to the historical collections in the Heritage Centre. The Heritage Centre will be open to the public during their working hours and the jobholder will be expected to provide a safe, welcoming and helpful environment for visitors. Job holders should be self-motivated and will be required to work independently, often without immediate supervision. The job holder will usually work across four days each week and occasional weekend and evening working may be required. An excellent opportunity for someone to immerse themselves in the history of the East and South Tyrone areas and to add to their CV particularly if they are interested in pursuing a career in heritage, archives, museums, tour guiding or other history related posts..
