This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about IT and enjoys interacting with people. You will join the IT Helpdesk team, supporting our staff and learners to use technology to learn, teach and work.
About the Role
You will join the IT Helpdesk team, supporting our staff and learners to use technology to learn teach and work. You will carry out a wide range of IT tasks including
helping tutors to use equipment and making sure it is set up properly for them
diagnosing system problems and fixing them
checking replenishing and fixing printers
setting up new users and dealing with leavers
You will work shifts initially Monday to Friday. As you learn and become more experienced your shifts will include working until later in the day during the week and on Saturdays. You will work at our Richmond and Surbiton Campus in Surbiton.
While working you will study towards your level 3 qualification as an Information Communications Technician and learn on the job from other team members.
About You
You will be kind and patient able to work with people with all levels of technical ability and to remain calm under pressure. You will be good at prioritising work and recognising which request should take the highest priority. You will have a voracious appetite to learn and be particularly interested in information technology and how it may be used in a learning environment.
You will probably already have some familiarity with Windows and PCs and a general knowledge of audio-visual equipment. You will have five GCSEs at grade A to C including Maths and English and be ready to study at Level three the equivalent of A levels.
Ideally, you will be based near Surbiton with an easy commute to the college. The college is an important part of the local community and we encourage local people to apply.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the End-Point Assessment.
