Post Title: Attendance and Outreach officer

Contract: Term Time only plus Inset Days

Hours: 8.30-12:30 (Mon-Fri) – 20hrs per week

Responsible to: Head of School

Cambian Chesham House School is an independent, DfE-registered, co-educational day school, providing specialist education for up to 20 students, aged 10-18 years.

The School is non-denominational and has a secular ethos, but respect the cultural needs and religious beliefs of all. Main purpose of the job:

To improve attendance and punctuality by working with colleagues to identify patterns of absence and barriers to good attendance and by tracking attendance for individuals.

To improve home-school liaison by working directly with families to identify and remove barriers to good attendance, undertaking Early Help Assessments and/or signposting to appropriate support.

Specific Responsibilities:

• To maintain and monitor school attendance/punctuality data on a daily basis.
• To organise and arrange attendance interventions for groups and/or individuals.
• To carry out first day contact where no contact has been made from parents/carers in relation to their child's absence.
• To advise key colleagues of reasons for absence and of concerns.
• To ensure school protocols are followed when absence levels trigger thresholds.
• To undertake home visits in order to promote high attendance, develop positive relations with parents/carers and provide support around issues affecting good attendance/punctuality.
• Enhance our pastoral support service with student/family attendance meetings and implementation and monitoring of attendance/punctuality support plans.
• To process reports, such as missing from school and referrals for enforcement, to appropriate external agencies to obtain support with difficult attendance issues.
• To provide weekly attendance information to key colleagues and to provide half termly data and analysis to the Attendance Lead.

• To be aware of, and comply with, the codes of conduct, regulations and policies of the school and its commitment to inclusion and equal opportunities.
• To contribute to school wide events, including curriculum-focused events, as part of the wider curriculum team, as and when required.

General

• To undertake training as and when appropriate.
• To comply with any reasonable request from your Line Manager to undertake work of a similar level that is not specified in this job description.
• To undertake professional duties that may be reasonably assigned by the Headteacher.
