SEN Teaching Assistant - Wigan - Full time
ABOUT THE SCHOOL
Propsero Teaching is looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant or support worker who can support children in an alternative provision in Wigan.
The school is for children aged 11 -19 years with a wide range of learning difficulties needs from Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) to Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) including Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASD) and some students can display challenging behaviour.
Prospero Teaching is looking for a dedicated and caring individual who can support students on a 1:1 basis or within small groups. Personal care may be involved. Located within Wigan, the school is a short walk away from public transport.
The position is open to all experienced Teaching Assistants and support workers who have some experience in a similar role. Depending on performance the school would look at either extending the contract or offering a permanent position. It is essential that you have experience with challenging behaviour and moving & handling.
CONTRACT/POSITION DETAILS

- Minimum rate of pay - £85 per day
- Hours - 8:20 am - 4pm : Mon - Fri (term time only)
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience in a similar setting
- LEVEL 2 Teaching Assistant/or equivalent and above is preferable
- GCSE Maths and English and Computer literate
- Up to date Safeguarding & FGM training issued in the last year
- Up to date prevent awareness training in the last 3 years
- Moving and handling certificate
- Experience with challenging behaviour
TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:
- Hold Right to Work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child & adult barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
- Provide two professional child related references that cover at least the last two years
