Job description

Your Responsibility

The Purchasing Intern is responsible for supporting across the EMEA Purchasing team, with a key focus on the UK. They will complete various activities within the Purchasing area, supporting the end to end process in relation to Swisslog’s daily operations. The Purchasing Intern will also be a key person responsible for Cost Centre Purchases within the business, and will have the opportunity to support the Project Purchasing teams across EMEA, ensuring that key documents are maintained and liaising with Internal Stakeholders to help deliver the right results within the Purchasing team. The Purchasing Intern will also have the opportunity to analyse internal processes, and help to propose improvements where they see opportunities. Where appropriate, the Purchasing Intern will also have the opportunity to take the lead for Indirect / Cost Centre Purchases, negotiating at a local level with Suppliers, and completing local RFQ’s / Tenders to deliver the best cost result for the Swisslog business. The use of SAP, following the necessary process steps, and generating relevant reports from in SAP will also be a requirement. Additionally, the Purchasing Intern will be mentored by the key members of the UK team, and there will also be the opportunity to travel to the main Purchasing location in Dortmund, as well as visiting many of the UK Swisslog Customer sites, to see the end result in real life!

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is a good communicator. The person needs to be hard working, with the ability to work well on their own, but also as part of a Team, supporting more experienced colleagues on various tasks. It would be beneficial for the person to have a keen interest in the Purchasing function, with a desire to get a better understanding of how a Purchasing function aids the overall business to deliver better value.
