Job description

Quality Advisor - construction/civil engineering - Manchester/North-West Regional role working for a well-established main contractor - £35k-£40k+car/allowance and full benefits package.

As Quality Advisor, reporting to the Quality Manager, you will be responsible for promoting and embedding good practice throughout the organisation and ensuring that our projects deliver right first time. The Quality Advisor will support the business to help ensure that the company HSQE Management Systems meet the requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001.
Responsibilities:-
SAFETY
• Promote good safety awareness and best practice.
• Follow health and safety procedures and meet the expectations for safety standards in all work activities.
• Observe site safety rules and adhere to them at all times.
• Ensure your PPE is in good condition.

CUSTOMER
• Maintain a strong relationship with our clients and supply chain, acting as the interface for project quality-related matters.
• Advise projects on relevant quality standards and client requirements to ensure they are captured in project quality documentation and that projects operate in compliance.
• Compile project handover documentation throughout the lifecycle of projects.

PEOPLE
• Assist the site teams on quality matters and help them discharge their duties.
• Support the site teams in producing and working to quality documentation.
• Treat others fairly and openly with respect regardless of their position or status. Deal with enquiries professionally and within the stipulated timescales.
• Encourage effective ‘upward’ communication to establish reporting of defective work and nonconformances.
• Work as part of a collaborative team, deal with quality problems quickly and effectively.

INTEGRITY
• Must be an outstanding role model for Quality and be prepared to passionately promote good Quality practice.
• Always exercise a high degree of discretion regarding employee’s personal details.
• Maintain standards of professional practice, ensuring behaviour complies with organisational values and organisation of work effectively to meet the demands of the role.
• Ensure nonconformances, observations and opportunities for improvement are identified and processed in accordance with processes.
• Carry out root cause analysis and support in identifying and implementing appropriate corrective action.
• Collate and report on Quality KPIs to the Quality & Compliance Manager.

• Integrate with project teams to deliver projects to a high standard, right first time.
• Lead by example and promote and highlight best practice on all projects.
• Be an advocate for Quality and support projects in continuous improvement to deliver high standards for our clients.
• Carry out both project and systems audits to ensure we are meeting standards, client specifications and the requirements of ISO 9001: 2015.
• Review and understand client specifications and cascade requirements throughout the project team and the supply chain.
• Support the development of project quality documentation including: quality plans, inspection and test plans and review supply chain documentation.

SUSTAINABLE
• Support the development and maintenance of the business management system.
• Support with identifying and implementing improvements as part of the continuous improvement programme.
• Assist with producing responses to tender submissions.
• Assist with external audits and lead internal and supply chain audits.

Person Specification - Qualifications and Experience desired:-
• Qualified to a minimum of Level 4/HNC level in Construction/Quality/quality-related subject
• Practitioner of CQI (Desired)
• CSCS Card
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and Teams
• Experience in a UK-based construction, civil engineering or utilities based environment
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 and qualified as a lead auditor
• Knowledge of lean tools and quality principles
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Effective learner & agile thinker
• Ability to establish and maintain relationships at all levels within the business
• Able to work under pressure, able to work to tight deadlines, able to respond to change, flexibility and strong commitment to customer service excellence
• Full Driving License
