The Role

Responsible to the Head of Security and subsequently Saab UK Security Management Board for the strategic development of an effective physical security culture within the company and the day-to-day management and delivery of the physical security policy, procedures, risk assessment management and general physical security planning and processes.

Responsibilities:

Ensure that physical security processes, policies and procedures are carried out in accordance with UK Govt, Saab Group, Saab UK and Contracting Authority requirements

Conduct Physical security audits at all Saab UK locations.

Plan, design and implement security solutions in accordance with Surreptitious Threat Mitigation Process (STaMP) methodology.

Plan, design and implement security solutions in accordance with company protection levels and advise management on correct equipment and application methods.

Work with Saab Group property team to ensure any new UK development meets with the requirements for corporate levels of protection.

Ensure all aspects of physical security are kept up to date and maintained in order to ensure Saab UK maintains formal certification in required locations.

Provide feedback to management including recommendations for improvement, training and compliancy needs.

Maintain currency with physical threat mitigation, its associated equipment and methods

Maintain a physical security awareness program in line with the wider Saab UK security program.

Advise on the appropriate physical security controls for new contracts.

Preparing and implementing the physical security sections for company security Instructions.

Conduct intermediate level Technical Surveillance Counter Measures inspections of UK locations.

Attend major UK expos including RIAT and DSEI to assist with the TCSM inspections.

Ensure that any new or revised policy is appropriately staffed and considered throughout the organisation, liaising with other disciplines such as HR and H&S to ensure physical security is considered and embedded within all appropriate policies.

Taking clear ownership of all physical security incidents/breaches or ensuring that oversight is kept if incident is handled by other parts of the company.

Identify risks relating to physical security, design mitigation/reduction plans, guide management and maintain the risk within Saab UK risk management processes.

Assist the Saab UK Head of Security with any additional tasks within the wider security function.

Required skills:

Sole UK National.

Current SC Clearance or be able to meet the requirements for SC.

Proven experience in physical security design and implementation

Working knowledge of UK security protocols and procedures.

Working knowledge of FSC procedures and policies.

Understanding STaMP and Government Functional Standard 007

Excellent communication skills in English, verbal and written.

Desired Skills:

Experience in designing security solutions including Electronic Access Control

Security experience within the defence and security area.

Proven experience as a Security Controller or similar position.

Qualified to MOD/DISA Security Controllers’ Course standard.

Former military or police experience.

This position has tasks including defence secrecy, it therefore requires you to conduct and receive an approved security clearance by responsible authorities.
