Part time (0.8), permanent position, commencing September 2024 (We will consider full time for a successful ECT)

We have an opportunity for a Geography teacher to join the Geography Department, which is part of the Humanities faculty (Geography, History and Religious Studies). In the faculty there are fourteen teachers (four Geography specialists) teaching both their specialism and some cross curricular. Geography is a hugely

popular subject especially at GCSE. Students make good progress in Geography at both GCSE and A Level and are very ambitious across the ability range.

Reporting to the Subject Lead for Geography you will be responsible for teaching Geography across all key stages. There may also be an opportunity of teaching outside your subject specialism. You will be a reflective practitioner who engages with school and faculty CPD to continually improve teaching and learning. You will also be an excellent team player with the highest standards of professionalism and expectations of students. You will have up to date subject knowledge and a track record of success in maximizing student progress across all key stages.

As well as being an enthusiastic teacher who is passionate about the teaching of Geography, you will also need to demonstrate a commitment to the extra-curricular life of the school. Within the Humanities faculty, a large range of activities take place such as fieldwork, university trips and participation in events at other

local schools.

The Faculty also has an excellent reputation for its success with the development and mentoring of trainee teachers. WHGS has had a number of United Learning Trainees and MMU trainees and we have had considerable success with trainees over the last few years.
