Job description

Our client is a privately-owned, profitable, and growing specialty chemicals business supplying customers across food & drink and pharmaceutical industries across the UK and globally. This is a rare progression opportunity to join a close-knit, high-performing team as Director of Sales and Marketing and evolve to a Board role in the near future.

Reporting to the Managing Director, leading Sales, Marketing and Customer Service teams through your direct manager reports, you will develop and shape the Sales & Marketing function for the future to ensure continued growth. You will have the ability to understand market changes and seek new opportunities whilst ensuring they maintain the outstanding reputation earnt over the decades.

You will:

Create and implement the Sales & Marketing strategy.

Work with the experienced UK Sales team to understand the market, whilst overseeing export sales, including visiting Export customers supporting the Head of Export.

Develop strong relationships with suppliers including negotiations.

Review current sales, marketing and customer service procedures and performance and propose new ways of working.

Develop a strong working relationship with the Operations team to deliver the best service for customers.

Understand regulations such as Reach and changes in market dynamics.

Represent the business at trade events and trade associations.

As the ideal candidate you will:

Be an exceptional Sales & Marketing Director or ‘Head of’ with a proven track record of analysing the competitive environment, nationally and internationally, and creating and implementing growth strategies in B2B chemicals industries.

Whilst being hands-on in leading Sales & Marketing, you will also be strategic in your approach and be able to advise the board.

Have first-class negotiation and relationship building skills.

Have the maturity and character to continue to embed existing good practices, whilst introducing new ways of working to improve and evolve an established team. As such, you will be a strong communicator, coach, and a collaborative leader.

Be highly numerate with the financial competence to manage and control the Sales & Marketing budget.
