We are currently looking to recruit a dynamic and enthusiastic Finance Manager on a full time, permanent basis. The role is key to ensuring the smooth running of the practice, you will work closely with the Practice Manager by managing financial transactions and supporting the internal operations of the firm.

Job Purpose
Providing effective and efficient legal finance support to the firm in accordance with SRA Accounts Rules.
Job Description & Responsibilities
To undertake daily legal accounting whilst ensuring SRA Accounts Rules are complied with, these tasks include but are not limited to:
- Posting all accounting transactions and invoices in accordance with SRA Accounts Rules
- Daily client and office bank reconciliations
- Ensuring client ledgers are up to date and accurate including monitoring residual client balances and unbilled disbursements
- Preparing, checking, processing and electronically posting bank payment (BACS/CHAPS/Faster Payments) together with any other banking requirements (cheques, taking client card payments via telephone etc)
- Processing of Client to Office transfers
- Posting disbursements (HMLR Statements and Legl AML Statements, Companies House Statements etc)
- Sales Ledger – Checking and posting bills
- Check completion statements when required
- Handling accounts queries
- Purchase Ledger – paying invoices and monitoring nominal accounts.
- Process accurate month end/year end and production of relevant reports
- Production of daily/weekly/monthly audit trails and reports. To include general housekeeping (file closures, unbilled disbursements etc), residual balances, management reports, bank, client balance and
- VAT reconciliations
- Prepare monthly prepayments
- Corporation Tax and Directors Tax payments
- Quarterly VAT submissions
- Research and report on business performance – aged debt, costs billed, outgoings
- Research and report on savings accounts, budgets and forecasting
- Liaising with clients, the firms accountants, auditors and third parties
- Drive continuous improvement of the accounting practices
- To provide ad hoc support to the firm as needed
Person Specification:
- Previous experience working as a Legal Finance Manager or Legal Cashier
- Working knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules and money laundering requirements and must have a good understanding of COFA and COLP roles
- Have knowledge and understanding of the conveyancing process
- Strong computer skills including the use of computerised accounting software, knowledge of ALB would be an advantage
- Experience of running essential accounts reports and an understanding of VAT
- Excellent administration, organisational and time management skills
- Demonstrate honesty, reliability and take pride in meeting high expectations
- Close attention to detail
- Proactive, self-motivated and be able to work under pressure
- Can demonstrate a positive, friendly and flexible manner and must be a good team player to ensure collaboration within a committed group of professionals
- Practical experience of dealing with client enquiries
