Commercial Manager (Railway Models)Do you have experience of managing retail operations and the financial awareness required to oversee product development and recognise business opportunities?About usScience Museum Group is here to inspire futures. A unique part of this retail able offer, our Locomotion Models business is critical to our enterprise stream with the potential to grow profits from exclusive models, tradeshows, and online performance.We are now recruiting for a Commercial Manager (Railway Models) based at either the National Railway Museum in York or Locomotion in Shildon, County Durham. This is a full-time, permanent contract with hybrid working available.About the roleAs Commercial Manager (Railway Models) you will support and encourage a team of Sales Advisors, to drive incremental revenue, ensuring the highest standards shopping experience for the model's website. You will be working closely with our Ecommerce Marketing Executive to drive traffic and conversation on the website and collaborate to develop a coherent promotional plan that encourages cross sell and up sell.You will control & manage the department P&L budget of £150k+, overseeing product development recognising business opportunities. This will include working with key suppliers of replica locos and overseeing full projects of exclusive model's pipeline plans, including the financial management of the projects. You will also prepare, create and submit financially viable business cases for Execs approval.About youJoining us you will have experience of managing retail operations functions, including managing on-going capital stock. You will have good financial awareness and a good understanding of KPIs, including good financial reporting abilities in addition to experience of robust business planning.Crucially, you will be an effective team leader, with the ability to use your high standard of communication and listening skills to motivate, manage and collaborate with others successfully.
