Job description
Horse groom wanted for small local charity.
Groom will be responsible for carrying out yard duties - mucking out, feeding, poo picking fields; and exercising and general care of horses.
Also helping with general site maintenance and cleaning of common room and toilet areas.
Role will involve working alongside volunteers and charity’s beneficiaries as directed by line manager of Calon RDA, as well as mentoring college students on work placement.
This position is for a fixed term contract of 12 months, extending upto 3 years subject to sufficient grant funding.
Working hours - 24 hours to be split over 5 days per week, with flexibility needed to change days of work when needed to assist smooth running of the charity. Split shifts may be required and this role would therefore suit someone living locally to the charity.
Role will require early morning starts, full driving license and enhanced DBS check. The charity will follow up all references and DBS checks as part of our Safe Recruitment policy.
Previous experience of working on yards, and with disabled children is essential for this role.
The ability to ride and exercise horses is also essential.
Candidates will be asked to ride, lunge and work a horse in-hand during the interview process, explaining how they would be able to improve the horses way of going.
