Location: Remote (home-based, or may work from London, UK office)
Salary: £32,000 - £40,000 pro-rata

About us
EarthPercent (a registered charity in England and Wales (1188391) and a registered 501c3 non-profit foundation in the U.S (EIN: 86-3830611) was launched in 2021 to raise money from the music industry to support the climate movement in order to significantly reduce the industry’s impacts on the planet and contribute to a just and green future for all.
EarthPercent seeks to include the planet as a stakeholder in music by asking artists, companies and individuals to commit a small percentage of their revenue to EarthPercent who distribute this money to the most impactful organisations working on the climate emergency with the guidance of an advisory panel of climate experts, leading scientists and youth activists.
About the role
As a Grants Manager at EarthPercent, you will play a vital role in shaping our Grant Giving program, engaging with inspirational climate organisations and making a meaningful impact towards ensuring a healthy, equitable and liveable planet for generations to come.
Your main focus will be developing strategies and improving processes to make EarthPercent’s Grant Giving more effective, whilst staying true to mission and values. You will also manage the grant giving of Sounds Right – a programme from EarthPercent and other partners (including UN Live), distributing funds to high impact conservation initiatives.
Currently, there are 17 active grants across the UK and US. You will focus on building strong relationships with existing grant partners as well as expanding the number of partners in our portfolio and onboarding new Sounds Right grant partners.
Specific duties include:
Grant management
Maintain and develop the current grant portfolio, identifying new organisations to connect with
Develop the Sounds Right grant portfolio, working with Sounds Right partners and Expert Panel members
Research and build the pipeline of potential new grants partners through desk research, attending industry events, reaching out to subject matter experts and networking in the climate space
Continue developing the due diligence framework and processes to help us assess whether a grant partner is a good fit for our funding
Conduct due diligence on new and renewing grant partners, including gathering and analysing information for legal and financial compliance, analysing and documenting risks and conflicts of interest
Support new grant applicants through the process and lead the work with our Expert Panels to analyse and review new applicants and prepare approved applications for final board sign-off
Grant administration, including maintaining the pipeline database, preparing grant documentation, coordinating proposals, creating and analysing budgets, coordinating contracts, answering grant-related queries, monitoring grants, reporting
Engage, support, advise and champion grant partners throughout the lifetime of their relationship with EarthPercent
Develop our impact monitoring and reporting framework and conduct regular monitoring calls with grant partners to track, analyse and document their progress and impacts
Create reports and presentations for diverse audiences to communicate the Grant Giving program and help colleagues understand and communicate the progress and impacts of our grants to the public and our donors
Evolve current and create new efficient grant-making processes and templates, including researching, scoping out and making recommendations for appropriate grant management software
Maintain, update and create new grant-making policies and procedures, where required – ensure these are shared with colleagues, trustees and grant partners as necessary
Strategy development
Maintain and evolve the Grant Giving strategy, ensuring there are clear aims and objectives, areas of prioritisation, interventions, approaches, tactics and metrics of success and learning
Seek input from the team, Expert Advisors, Sounds Right partners, grant partners, trustees, Music Committee and others where appropriate to inform and shape strategy
Expert Advisory Panel coordination (working with EAP Chair)
Engage and support the involvement of the Expert Advisory Panel members
Coordinate virtual convenings of the Expert Advisory Panel at least twice per year
Prepare comprehensive grant proposal documentation for review by the Expert Advisory Panel members
Coordinate the Expert Advisory Panel reviews as part of the grant proposal review process
Research and recruit new Expert Advisory Panel members, when required
Organise fee payments, where applicable, to Expert Advisory Panel members
Maintain and update Expert Advisory Panel Terms of Reference, policies and procedures
Seek advice and recommendations from the Expert Advisory Panel members on strategy development and grant management
Organisational development
Represent or speak on behalf of EarthPercent’s Grant Giving programme at industry events and with donors, other philanthropies, our Music Committee, our Boards of Trustees and others where relevant
Support the Executive Directors to plan and deliver events and meetings
Actively uphold and contribute to EarthPercent’s values and commitments to champion diversity, equity and inclusion and promote anti-oppressive practices in all aspects of the role
Person specification:
At least 2-5 years’ experience in grant management or transferable experience
Understanding of the processes and protocols of grant-making, including legal compliance issues in the UK and US, particularly in the field of the climate and/or nature emergencies
Strong understanding of climate issues, relevant to at least one or more of our Actions Areas (industry decarbonisation, just energy transition, climate justice, policy change, conservation)
Ability to work effectively, build relationships and partnerships with a range of stakeholders including colleagues, trustees, grantees and donors
Ability to analyse and synthesise complex information quickly and effectively
Proven track record of an organised and methodical approach to work
Strong project management skills and experience of delivering successful projects on time
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to communicate with a range of audiences
Good awareness of financial and budget management and confidence in extracting key information from financial reports
Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
Strong IT skills, (MS Office) and the ability to learn detailed processes
Flexibility to work hours conducive to both the UK and U.S. time zones
Desirables:
Technical or scientific expertise related to climate change
Experience of working with grassroots climate organisations and/or social movements
Experience of reaching and engaging individuals and organisations who have been historically marginalised, such as those based in the Global South
Experience of working with participatory and co-creation processes
Experience building pipelines and databases, preferably via CRM softwares
