Job description
Our client is a contractor that works in the Water & Civils sectors and they are currently looking to recruit for a n Assistant Buyer for their offices near Slough. The role of Assistant Buyer is to assist the Commercial team with the administrative process of company-wide purchases. Key duties: Placement of material, plant and equipment, subcontract labour and consumables orders in accordance with budget, specification and programme constraints. Input, coordinate and assist with Purchase Order database management. Liaise with our supply chain and other material suppliers. Assisting estimating in the preparation of tenders. Work with project teams to identify key bulk material requirements and maintain procurement tracker. Assist with invoice queries and general administration. Set up forms and tracking subcontractor signed contracts for new subcontractor / supplier accounts. Communication with site staff and subcontractors to ensure attendances on site as agreed. Validation / GRN of ordered goods and services. Assist the Commercial team as required. Essential Criteria: Previous experience preferably within a procurement or purchasing environment for a construction/civil engineering contractor. Experience in working for a contractor in a buying role, is preferable. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail Good knowledge of construction materials, plant and equipment. Interpersonal skills, particularly in negotiating. Ability to make decisions. Ability to cope with pressure. Strong mathematical and IT ability. Good working knowledge of Microsoft office packages. Ability to assess and analyse information. Good Commercial awareness. Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and be able to manage your workload.
