Managing Director
Tilbury
160,000 – 195,000 + car and bonus
Overview: This is a pan–European road transport, warehousing and contract logistics business with a network of sites in the UK. The role will be to sit at the head of the UK as Managing Director with accountability for the entire commercial and operational performance of the business in the UK. Reporting to the global heads, this role will be given the full autonomy to maximise performance from existing operations and deliver growth and expansion in the UK.
Key Responsibilities: - Lead a senior management team to deliver exceptional service to their customers.
- Develop and execute strategic operational plans across sales, road freight, logistics, customer service and supply chain services.
- Lead, mentor and develop a high–performing team whilst ensuring that there is alignment with organisational objectives.
- Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Drive change management.
- Manage all financial performance, budgeting, forecasting and cost control measures.
- Collaborate on service expansion and innovation.
- Monitor KPIs for efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Prepare and present reports on performance and initiatives at global board level.
Person Specification: - Degree or similar in business administration, logistics, supply chain management or related field. MBA is a plus.
- Proven track record as a leader within the Transport, Logistics or Supply Chain industry.
- Strong knowledge of freight, logistics and supply chain processes.
- First class leadership skills with a positive approach and an ability to get people on side and delivering a joined up strategy for growth and development.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, financially astute, with a demonstrable pedigree in driving profits and managing costs.
- Proficient in process improvement methodologies and project management.
- Possessing the emotional intelligence to interact with UK teams and global senior leadership counterparts.
- Exceptional strategic planning, objective setting and decision making skills.
- Flexibility to travel.
