Green Synergy is recruiting new Chair of  Trustees for our Board,

We are a well respected charity supporting people in disadvantaged communities in Lincolnshire to improve their mental and physical wellbeing.

What will you be doing?

Our current Chair of Trustees Reverend Canon Alan Robson is stepping down from the Chair’s role and the charity after an incredible 7.5 years of service so the charity is now seeking to recruit a new Chair to lead and support the Board and the charity in the coming years.

Ideally, we are looking for someone with previous board or leadership experience - although this is not obligatory. Past involvement in areas of business, charities or finance would also be advantageous. An interest in gardening or horticulture would be valuable and a passion for improving the lives of people in under-served communities is essential.

The role of the Chair of Trustees is to give leadership to the board and to make sure the board fulfils its governance duties and responsibilities. Additionally the Chair of Trustees works closely with the CEO to support her to achieve the aims of Green Synergy, and, at times, represents Green Synergy at functions, meetings and in the press and broadcasting media.

What are we looking for?

Past involvement in areas of business, charities or finance would also be preferred.

The Chair should have:

• A commitment to the vision, mission and values of Green Synergy
• Ability to lead a group of Board volunteers
• A willingness to meet the minimum time commitment including, on occasions, being available to staff for advice and support
• Integrity including understanding of, and ability to maintain, confidentiality
• An ability to see the ‘big picture’ and think strategically
• Good, independent judgement, political impartiality and the ability to think creatively in the context of the organisation and external environment.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to respect the confidences of colleagues
• Balancing tact and diplomacy with willingness to challenge and constructively criticise
• Willingness to express opinion in a reasoned way and to actively participate in discussion
• An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship
• An ability to work effectively as a member of a team
• A willingness to learn and undertake training if required

What difference will you make?

The Chair of Trustees is a key role in Green Synergy. Your leadership and commitment will ensure the charity continues to provide and extend our range of much-needed support and services to our beneficiaries through gardening and horticulture.

As part of our board, the Chair will support and shape our strategic direction and development, as well as helping us achieve our purpose to inspire, enable and empower people in Greater Lincolnshire to meet, grow, learn and thrive through community gardening and connecting with nature.
