Careers Liaison Officer

Faculty of Law, St Cross Building, St Cross Road, Oxford, OX1 3UL

The Faculty of Law seeks to appoint a highly motivated and experienced Careers Officer to engage with students, alumni, and employer organisations, with a strong emphasis on careers support, external engagement, partnership, and enhancing the student experience.  This is a brand new position, in which the postholder will play a key role in developing and coordinating careers support for students who require specialist advice, delivering a bespoke service that will complement the support provided by our University Careers Service and the support already offered to some students by our course administration teams.  A second, equally important aspect of this role, is to help the Faculty meet its access objectives by helping access undergraduate students to convert their academic achievements into successful employment.  The postholder will report to our Communications Manager, will work closely with various Course Directors and Faculty Officers, and will sit at the intersection of multiple functions within the Faculty’s Professional Services Staff (’PSS’) team.

The successful candidate should be educated to degree level or equivalent; have a comprehensive understanding of the legal profession, job market trends, and career pathways, particularly in the UK context; show proven administrative experience in an equivalent role in careers advising, student support or a similar role in the legal field; have excellent written and oral communication skills, and be able to liaise effectively at all levels, especially with students and external partners; have excellent organisational skills and efficient working methods; and be able to use a range of digital media to network and communicate, and in utilising career development tools, databases, and online resources.  A degree in Law or a related field and practical experience of data protection, information security and GDPR compliance is desirable.

This post is permanent and full time. The Faculty is principally based at the St Cross Building, Oxford but we support hybrid working on a flexible basis wherever possible, the exact arrangement to be agreed with the Line Manager.

The closing date for applications is midday on Tuesday 12 March 2024.  You will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement as part of your online application.  Interviews will be held in person on 9 April 2024.
