Position Information

Killara High School (enrolment 1663 students, including over 50% students from a non-English speaking background) is the highest performing coeducational comprehensive high school in the NSW HSC for the second consecutive year in 2023. Specific Selection Criteria Approval to teach English as an Additional Language or Dialect (Secondary) with experience in planning and teaching the EAL/D course for the HSC.

Demonstrated high level collaboration skills to work effectively with classroom teachers in preparing and delivering lessons with a focus on language learning, including contributing to professional learning on meeting the learning needs of identified EAL/D students.

Demonstrated experience in planning and teaching EAL/D programs to meet the English language needs of EAL/D students, using EAL/D differentiation with reference to ESL Scales and the EAL/D Learning Progression

Demonstrated interest in promoting EAL/D student wellbeing, sense of belonging and support networks, including through transition programs and other initiatives.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
