CPRE THE COUNTRYSIDE CHARITY
Location
Remote | United Kingdom
Job description
CPRE’s Policy and Campaigns Committee advises on positive solutions for the issues facing the countryside and the environment. The volunteer Committee is involved in the development of new policies and the review of existing ones, so they continue to fulfil our vision, values and long-term strategy as external circumstances inevitably change. It also advises on CPRE’s campaigning approach.
The advice given by the Committee is vital to inform the board of trustees when it makes policy and campaign decisions. The Committee is expected to gather insight from CPRE’s staff, the CPRE network and other sources in forming its views.
As someone with good organisational and administrative skills combined with tact, diplomacy, and an ability to build good relationships, you will be making a significant contribution to the successful working of the CPRE Policy and Campaigns Committee.
This is a new role and whoever takes it on will have a significant opportunity to shape the scope of the role and how it’s carried out. It’s a great opportunity for someone wanting to gain an in depth understanding and insight into how policy and campaigning decisions are made at a national charity.
The Committee meets quarterly during the working week for about three hours. At least one meeting will be in person in London for which travel expenses are available. We may review these arrangements following the current recruitment of new Committee members. The role will require a regular commitment, with the weeks leading up to, and following, the Committee meetings being the busiest and requiring around 2-3 hours. As this is a new role, we’ll review and see how it’s working after 6 months.
