The role
Fugro are seeking an Operations Manager within the Falmouth, Cornwall Hub, for the Nearshore Team. The Nearshore team deliver geo-technical ground investigation projects across the UK and Europe, within renewable and infrastructure industries. The Operations Manager is a key member of the operations team. You will ensure best operational practices are implemented within the Land Site Characterisation business during the design state of projects through to their successful execution in the field. You will have a focus on HSSE improvements and initiatives, and ensure the UK LSC remains the Centre of Expertise for producing drilling methodology, technical and operational guidance as well as equipment selection, upgrades, and new builds. Your role will support the technical and cultural development of staff to increase performance and skills in operating and maintaining plant and equipment. You will be continually exploring ways of improving plant and equipment operational efficiency and methodology through robust R & M, alongside a well managed resource plan with targeted investment and innovation to maximise uptime productivity.
Who we're looking for:
The Operations Manager will have proven successful operational experience within the drilling sector or similar industry, of managing the operations to maintain heavy mechanical plant equipment. The Operations Manager will evidence effective and strong communications, with a proactive and supportive attitude and leads by example, motivating your team, and collaborating with external and internal stakeholders. You will show good budget management skills, and experience of cost estimates for clients. The role may require the need to travel to sites across Europe and the UK, flexibility is key to this role. The Operations Manager will be required to have extensive knowledge of HSSE, and experience of strengthening a positive safety culture. Ensuring all audits are in place and managed. This operations manager will formulate, implement, and drive forward project execution strategy, for Plant and equipment requirements, drill rig and /or Jack-up barge set up and operational methodology modifications and equipment development. The role will require someone highly organise with good attention to detail, and excellent reporting mechanisms. You will have a strong desire to improve performance and the stamina and commitment to drive change. You will show the ability to manage challenging situations and make decisions under pressure, diligent and hardworking. This role is exciting and challenging and can offer variety.
