Optical Development Engineer

Stockport Based - Hybrid Working

Key Responsibilities:

• Designing and developing DPSS lasers and diode laser systems.
• Designing and developing optical sub-systems.
• Testing and optimisation of laser and system designs.
• Design for manufacture, helping drive successful designs into a production environment through NPI processes and collaboration with cross functional teams.
• Optical design via simulation, modelling and lab-based experiments.

Skills and Experience:

• PhD in Physics / Engineering or related field OR Degree in Physics / Engineering or related field and proven technical experience.
• Experimental lab-based background.
• Experience of working in an optics environment.
• Hands on experience of alignment of a range of optical systems
• Experience in Design for Manufacture and New Product Introduction.
• General understanding of laser related subjects: Gaussian beam optics, polarisation optics, phase-matching criteria and objectives, cavity design.
• Optical modelling and programming ability.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Experience with general lab equipment (beam profilers, oscilloscopes, stages etc).
