Overview
This is an opportunity to join a leader in the food industry and play a key role in their development by leading the Automation agenda across 2 sites in South Wales.
The Role
- Develop and execute a comprehensive automation strategy aligned with business objectives.
- Lead evaluation, selection, and implementation of PLC-based automation solutions.
- Oversee design, deployment, and maintenance of IT systems supporting automation initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities and define project requirements.
- Build and lead a team of automation engineers, providing mentorship and support.
- Manage factory automation IT/network infrastructure and support group IT services.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement in automation initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
- Develop and manage the automation department budget effectively.
The Candidate
- A relevant degree
- PLC certified training (Siemens / Allen Bradley) preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing automation.
- Strong technical expertise in PLC programming, control systems design, and IT infrastructure management.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety standards in food manufacturing.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and experience in driving automation initiatives.
- Experience in budget management and implementing change.
