Service Care Solutions are recruiting for an Operations Officer to work within the Cheshire Constabulary on a 12-month contract.
Location: Crewe
Job Role/Responsibilities: To support the delivery of the CID function through participation in interview processes, compilation of evidence files, evidence gathering and carrying out other support activities in the interests of the victim and the community with the aim of detecting crime and reducing re-offending.
- Assist with investigations through conducting enquiries and by interviewing and taking statements from victims and witnesses taking into account rules of evidence
- Support victims by conveying them to the Sexual Assault Referral Centre for forensic/medical examinations and assisting at court during prosecution proceedings.
- As required to assist with the compilation of evidential prosecution files to support criminal proceedings in line with current local and national guidance.
- Liaise with officers and staff of partner criminal justice agencies in order to ensure compliance with Force policy and procedures.
- Gather evidential material for presentation to the Crown Prosecution Service in line with relevant legislation and Force Policy.
- Utilising the NICHE occurrence enquiry log, update victims and witnesses in line with the Victim's Code of Practice and Witness Charter
- Support the officer in the case with activities such as seizing exhibits including CCTV, reviewing material gathered in the course of an investigation such as third party records, mobile phone evidence, and CCTV footage.
- Upon completion of the required training, assist with visually recorded interviews of vulnerable and intimidated witnesses.
Knowledge/Experience required: - Educated to Level 3 or equivalent relevant experience.
- A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Significant experience of working in an investigative or criminal justice environment with case management experience.
- Full car driving licence - must be able to travel anywhere within the Force area to conduct enquiries, meet witnesses and victims.
- This role is subject to an enhanced level of vetting.
Skills: - Ability to effectively sift and evaluate information assessing relevance and potential use within criminal proceedings.
- Ability to prepare detailed files and reports and present information in an accurate and timely manner within strict guidelines.
- High level of written and verbal communication skills with the ability to represent the Force in the public domain when dealing with victims, witnesses and suspects.
- Ability to establish and maintain a good working knowledge of all relevant information technology systems.
- Ability to assess and prioritise tasks and information.
- Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with staff and Officers across a range of mutually dependent tasks.
