Job Title: Systems Engineer

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Systems Engineer to join Assystem. As a Systems Engineer, you will play a critical role in the development and delivery of systems engineering capability. The successful candidate will be expected to bolster our core SE team, which we are looking to grow and expand to accommodate business development opportunities both internally and externally. We are looking for resource with capabilities in all aspects of SE along with PLM, critical thinking, process optimisation and strong problem-solving skills. The key person we’re looking for will help transform Assystem’s SE discipline with a focus on supporting the identification and securing of business development opportunities as well as taking a lead in internal projects, strengthening our SE offering and development pathways.
Responsibilities (depending on level of experience):
Systems Engineering includes, but is not limited to:
- Requirements capture and management: Documenting, analysing, tracing, prioritising, and agreeing on requirements and then controlling change and communicating to relevant stakeholders throughout a project. Ensuring that the development process is continually requirements-driven, and that requirements are rigorously verified both in design and product.
- Concept generation and evaluation: Undertake studies to identify preferred and optimal candidate solutions, considering design trade-offs between subsystems, new technology opportunities and risks, requirements, and project cost and time constraints.
- Optioneering: Carrying out balanced and thorough assessment of the potential solutions, against the relevant criteria with appropriate weightings, to establish the approach that should be taken.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather user requirements and translate them into technical specifications and system/sub-system requirements.
- Utilise the Systems Engineering V diagram to guide the development and implementation of systems engineering processes, ensuring traceability and consistency throughout the project.
- Develop stakeholder maps to identify and engage relevant stakeholders, incorporating their inputs and feedback into project deliverables
- System architecting: Creating conceptual models defining structure and behaviours of the required system, enabling decomposition of complex systems.
- Technical risk evaluation
- Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE): Formalised application of modelling to support system requirements, architecting/design, analysis, verification and validation activities beginning in the conceptual design phase and continuing throughout development and later life cycle phases.
- Formulation, implementation and management of systems engineering tools and processes
- Implement the Plan Do Check Act (PDCA) cycle to monitor and improve the effectiveness of systems engineering processes, ensuring continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or degree in engineering with systems engineering experience. (Or suitable equivalent)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex technical challenges and propose effective solutions.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Requirements (depending on level of experience):
- Proven experience as a Systems Engineer.
- Knowledge of systems engineering principles, processes, and methodologies.
- Proficiency in gathering and managing user requirements and system/sub-system requirements.
- Experience with validation and verification processes.
- Business / organisation method and process review for optimisation and efficiency gain
- Familiarity with the Systems Engineering V diagram and its application in project development.
- INCOSE (International Council on Systems Engineering) certification or affiliation is desirable
- Proficiency in using MBSE (Model Based Systems Engineering) tools (Catia Magic, Capella)
- Proficiency in using requirement management tools, such as DOORS (Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System), to efficiently capture, track, and manage system requirements throughout the project lifecycle, is desirable but not essential.
- Proficiency in using PLM software (Dassault Systemes 3D experience, Teamcenter, Windchill etc)
- Experience in system integration and interface management, including the identification, specification, and coordination of system interfaces to ensure seamless integration and interoperability.
